Problem Child Meetings Have Moved!

September 10, 2007

Posted by Mish Irish @ 12:57 am

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Problem Child staff meetings, previously held in the Grandfather Clock Lounge of Atherton Hall, will now be held in Waring (West Halls) Commons.  The actual room may change from week to week, but we will try to reserve the Study Lounge (the big room with the cushy furniture) as often as possible.  If it is already reserved, we will meet in the Cultural Lounge.  Look for our sign on the door.

I know Problem Child has had a very long history of meeting in the GFC, hence perhaps why we’ve remained there this long, but none of the returning staff are able to get into Atherton Hall anymore, so we decided now was the time to move and, hopefully, become a little more accessible to other people wanting to join the staff.

IN SUM:

Future staff meetings will now be held in West Halls.  At least for this year, because rumor has it they’re going to start charging for room reservations next year…

Fall 2007 First Meeting! Submissions Now Open!

August 27, 2007

Posted by Mish Irish @ 9:29 pm
Problem Child Literary Magazine will once again be holding our weekly staff meetings starting this Wednesday, August 29th at 9:30 PM in the Grandfather Clock Lounge of Atherton Hall.  For those of you who don’t have access to the building, a staff member will check the main door facing the White Building around 9:25 or so to let people in.  ALL ARE WELCOME (and encouraged!) to join, so if you’re interested in the submission review process and/or the finer points of putting together a publication, please check us out.

Also, we are now accepting submissions!  If you have anything lying around, we’d like to see it.  Full submission guidelines, including where to send them, are on our website at http://www.problemchildmagazine.com/issues/submit/. Hope to hear from you soon!

T-Shirts!

November 28, 2006

Posted by Mish Irish @ 11:44 pm

Problem Child needs some cash money in order to print our humble zine, so for only the second time in PC history, we are sellling exclusive, limited edition T-shirts! This shirt celebrates the 20 year history of the organization - by highlighting memories from the last five and a half years, all I’ve had access to - and is availbale to everyone. The shirt will be printed on black Hanes beefy tees (durable cotton, pre-shrunk) from sizes small to XXXL. There will be two designs, one on the front center and one taking up the back.

The front:

Image is shrunk in order to not be ridiculously huge on this page. Again, this will appear on the front center of the shirt, 4 inches in width.

The back image is 8.5 X 11, so will take up nearly the entire back of the shirt. Again, this image is shrunk to fit on this page, but linked to a larger image for readability. The original image is far too large to upload practically, but ensures that it will be completely legible on the shirt.

Since we are trying to raise money, price on the shirts will be $15 each, XXL and XXXL are $17. Shipping in the US is $4.05, via Priority Mail Flat Rate, for one shirt, possibly two or three (depends on how much I can stuff in the envelope.) Whatever can’t fit in the envelope will have to be put in the flat rate box for $8.10. A Global Flat Rate enveloped to Canada and Mexico is $7.50, $9.50 for all other countries.

All shirts MUST be pre-ordered as the printer has to be paid in advance. I will be taking orders and payment until December 8th, and accept Paypal, cash, money orders and checks. To place an order, please e-mail me, tell me how many and what sizes you’d like, leave an address if you wish them to be shipped to you, and method of payment. I will respond with a confirmation and a quote. For those who will be picking them up in person… chances are they’ll be delivered during winter break, so they won’t be available until January. Unless you’re in town over the break. At any rate, I’ll let everyone who orders a shirt know when they’ve arrived.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me! Thanks!

Also, since meetings are starting up, we’re going to need something to meet about.  The call for submissions is officially on!  We want your work, so send it on along to problemchild@psu.edu.  Super!

Website Complete!

May 31, 2006

Posted by Mish Irish @ 8:01 pm

After plugging away on this plucky little site for nearly two months, I’ve finally got everything up and running on this website.  It is now ready for user perusal.

Please let me know if you find any broken links or have any questions about any of the content.  I am already aware of the search function not functioning on any of the pages except the current issue’s index.  I’ve looked into this bug and there doesn’t seem to be a solution to it, so, just live with it.  ^^  If you want to search an author or subject, you’ll just have to do it from the current issue page.

Otherwise, everything should be groovy.  Enjoy!

Office Relocation

May 13, 2006

Posted by Mish Irish @ 1:36 pm

Bad news, children. It seems the powers that be in the HUB have reassessed our needs for office space and decided to move us to another office that we’ll share with several other organizations. I do not know where it is yet nor I have I seen the space, but I am assuming it’s one of the offices that are contained within a room, and not an easily accessible cubicle that anyone could get to like we had before. If this is so, it means that we will no longer be able to leave our magazines out so that you may go up and grab as many as you’d like at your convenience.

So, for now, there is no pick-up location except for Websters (which I wasn’t able to get to before I left town, but I’ll try to send another staff member there to drop off issues ASAP), but we’ll try to work out more pick-up locations in the Fall. Until then, if you would like to get copies, I suggest asking a staff member directly or requesting mail delivery.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Issues Have Arrived!

May 6, 2006

Posted by Mish Irish @ 3:11 pm

The print version of the Spring 06 issue has come back from the printer! Copies are currently only available from the HUB office, 314 #B-8. They’re laying right out there on the desk, so take as many as you’d like at your convenience. Otherwise, keep your eyes on the Getting Issues page for updates on where else you can get your copies.

New Website!

April 23, 2006

Hello, Problem Children!

I am aware that we had neglected our old website for quite a while, but we hope this brand new and improved one (with our own domain!) will make up for it.  We have at last added the Fall 2005 issue to the archives, as well as the new Spring 2006 issue which isn’t even back from the printer yet, so be sure to check them out.  Check back here often as well, we’ll keep this page up to date with the latest PC happenings.

We promise not to let it go this time.  ; )
